The Spray Job
One of the first things we wanted to do with the Pulsar was to give her a fresh lick of paint as the old colour was faded, dull and not in a very fit state at all. There were the usual rust patches and holes on the rear arches too so these also needed to be repaired. We had allready decided that we were going to fit a Front Mount Intercooler so the front bumper would need cutting accordingly so that it would fit. We couldnt decide wether we wanted to stay white or go black, but in the end we all thought a fresh coat of bright white would make her stand out a lot more and look absolutely stunning so we went with that! One of the main regrets we had when getting the car sprayed at this point was that we did it too soon. Looking back now we wish that we had waited until the engine was out, that way we could have resprayed the engine bay at the same time and more easily. oh well, we seem to like doing everything the wrong way round
So here are the pics through the various stages of the respray and prep work, starting off with cutting the bumper to make room for the Front Mount Intercooler. As you may tell by the pictures, we went with the Forge Front Mount Intercooler kit and placed some mesh infront to protect it, we also think this adds the finishing touches to the bumper without looking over the top and cheesy!
Next it was time to start preparing the car for the respray. This involved cutting out the rust on the back arches and welding new plates in place and flushing it all of so that you couldnt tell that any blemishes ever existed. We also filled in and smoothed out any dints and marks we could see.
The next process was to flatten all the areas out where we had used filler etc and get the car in primer. Thats the green stuff you can see on the car. After this we spent a few days flattening the whole car out again with wet and dry making sure it was as flat and straight as we possibly could, as this is the most important part in a spray job. Any imperfections left or made at this point will show up in the paintwork afterwards.
The car was now ready to be sprayed. We were very excited at this point after all the hard work gone into the prep work we could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Job done! she\’s looking good allready and we havent even polished her up yet! Here are some pics of the car in the garden after the spray process, the car still hasnt been polished and cleaned here though so its still not perfect. Unfortunately we dont have any pics of the car in its finished state as we quite foolishly we drove the car to newcastle for a mates stag-do.. and the bottom end went! We had to get her towed home which cost a fortune and thats when we decided we were going the whole hog with the engine and getting it rebuilt to produce some serious power. Here is the car before she was polished anyway. We hope you like it as much as we do, the pictures do no justice at all for the new paintjob, the car is absolutely stunning now!

car looks great mate well done
Cheers mate, a long way to go yet, we are aiming to make it to the big meet hopefully!
