Smo\’s R – Carbon Wrapping: A-Pillars

Andy and I were sat bored at home and I thought it would be a nice idea to try some more carbon vinyl wrapping – but this time on A-Pillar trims (we stole these from Andy\’s car too). Below are a selection of shots, starting with the trim before we attacked it, a couple of [...]

Smo\’s R – Carbon Wrapping: Filler Cap

I have entertained myself by having a stab at carbon vinyl wrapping.
I started off with your standard run-of-the-mill petrol filler cap from Andy\’s (streetcredgtir) car;

Here she is after being wrapped;

I then let it dry and cleaned it before giving it two coats of clear laquer and here\’s how she\’s turned out;

Smo\’s R – The Bodyshop #2: Cut Outs

I received a call from the shop saying that the rust on the bottom of my passenger door had eaten into the inner skin so needed replacing. Today I popped round Andy\’s and we took off his door as a replacement. We also took the center bonnet vent as mine had a small crack in [...]

So far they\’ve stripped her down and as you can see they\’ve just made a start on filling the dings and dents. When I arrived a fella from Autoglass showed up to remove my front and rear screens. Throughout the course of the week they\’ll start prepping for paint.

Smo\’s R – Polishing Stuff

Today I decided to have a stab at giving my Forge Power Steering Tank a refurb. Here is what I started with;

As you can see, the finish is dull and the surface is marred with small scratches and blemishes. I thought I\’d start off with the bare essentials;

- Brasso
- Silver Polishing Cloth
- Kitchen Towel
This was [...]

Smo\’s R – Project 500bhp

With the car being overhauled in W83 I wanted to make use of the Tomei 2.2 engine. Running 400bhp seemed a waste of it\’s potential so I decided to step it up a level with some tasty bits of hardware.

- Bosch 044 Fuel Pump
- RC Triple-Nozzle 1000cc Injectors
- MSD 6a Ignition Box
- MSD SS Blaster [...]

Smo\’s R – A New Look

January 8, 2010 by Smo

I\’ve always loved white cars. The GTi-R especially. Would you believe I have always fancied cars without rust, too. With that in mind I thought to hell with it, I\’m going to build something special. I ordered some new rear arches from carz2.co.uk;

5 Litres of W83 Scotia White paint from paints4u.com;

And booked her in at [...]

With the car back and running nicely I decided it was time for some small yet worthwhile mods in the looks department. I ordered;
- Forge Power Steering Tank
- Stainless Expansion Tank
- Stainless Fuse Box Covers
- Stainless Plug Cover
- Stainless Oil Cap
- Blue Conduit Hosing
- Blue Vacuum Piping
- Blue Samco Hoses
And this was the end result;

She [...]

Smo\’s R – The Selector Fork

Bad news – roughly a month after I bought the car my clutch began to feel very heavy half way down, I suspected the clutch fork as it is quite a common problem on these cars when you fit uprated clutches. My car is running an AP Twin-Paddle.
Soon the work began to remove the gearbox [...]

Smo\’s R – The Beginning

Right guys, I need to cut a very long story short here! I\’ve been a great lover of the Pulsar GTi-R ever since I was 16 and had the luck to get a passenger ride in a standard car (bar exhaust and BOV). I\’ve been hooked since the day.
Here is a brief introduction into my [...]
